Our featured author of the month is John Cyrus. Welcome John! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am an evangelical Christian and a publishing professional, who has worked as a Manager (QA), in Aptara Inc., New Delhi, India. In 2011 I founded Turtledove Inspirational for translating powerful Inspirational books into Indian and other languages. Through the Word of God, I strongly believe that the world’s economic machinery is out of track ever since the industrial economy became predominant. My argument is that no one has diagnosed the cause of the economic crisis rightly. My book, I believe, has an answer for the global economic crisis. I live with his wife, Rebecca Cyrus and my daughters, Christina, Catherine, and Gladys in UP, near New Delhi, India.
When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer and what inspired you to write your first book?
I never intended to be a writer, and did not have the talent to become a writer. It is all about God’s providence and His plan for one’s life. When I was a bachelor and was seeking God, I used to read the Bible a lot. While, I was reading about Jacob’s present to his brother Esau, the Bible says, “Two hundred she goats, and twenty he goats, two hundred ewes, and twenty rams, …” (Gen 32:14) and so on; I felt if Jacob could give a present like this, what an amount of wealth he must have had! This is my first inspiration that opened my economic thoughts. When I compared this with the dry lifeless industrial economy that has lost its purchasing power, I got the concept that living products such as agriculture and livestock have the real purchasing power of money!
Tell us about your latest book.
This is my first book, part 1: “The Strength of Economy.” My second book, part 2: “The Health of Economy,” which is filled to with innovative ideas for the restoration of current economic crisis is 75% complete and is yet to be published. Hopefully, I can publish it this month by the grace of God. And the third part of this book: “The Life of Economy” is almost 50% completed and will be published in November.
As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
My childhood time was not so bright. Except, I remember, my elder brother showed one of his friends who asked about my photo – a world map! In my brother’s opinion, I am one of the greatest people in the world. In my youth, when I was praying with our church believers, I had asked the Lord to make me an instrument who can bring countless souls to His Kingdom, more than anyone in this world will ever do!
What books have most influenced your life most?
Without doubt, the Holy Bible is one of the book that influenced my life the most. Secondly, I can say, David Brainerd’s “Poured out life at the altar of God,” i.e., thirdly, “When the Spirit Came” – a book about Moravian Revival which cleared my Christian doctrine related confusions. Other books influenced me, I can say, “Why Revival Tarries” by Leonard Ravenhill, Another Daniel by Joshua Daniel, “Heavenly Man” – about Chinese underground Church hero, etc.
Where do you get your ideas?
Without any doubt, the Bible is the great book which gives me great ideas. Apart from Bible, the biographies and the writings of great men of God who did great exploits for God influences me a lot than any other so-called wisdom of this world!
Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
From the depth of my heart, I believe that there is an answer to the economic crisis which had been discovered from the sacred pages of the Bible. I can prove this to my readers! For example, the wisest kings ever lived in this world says in Proverbs 24:27, “Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.” This is the No. 1 economic principle or theory if applied, can bring total healing to the whole economy of the world.
You may ask, how you know that? Here is proof from the previous verse, Proverbs 24:26, “Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.” I understand that this verse has been put above and the answer is given below (Proverbs 24:27) I believe the truth of infallible Word of God. Even to emphasis the truth I have used this verse as sub-title to my book, as: The Bible Gives the Right Answer! If the world doesn’t want the right answer, I know that God knows the best way to deal with the wickedness of the world and those who don’t want the right answer! However, those who want to know the right answer must read this book.
